We're Here!

Just a little update. We are finally in our home, though it's not completely ours yet. We are helping my bother in laws family move out and then we will move in. Should be done around the first of the week. I'm so very excited and a little anxious for this to be done already, but I'm being very patient. That virtue is one that I have worked very hard on and it seems I'm getting very good at it lately.

Gibson Park

Took a short trip down the road from mom's house this morning. The idea was to gather mussels if we could find them.

This is the view from above a small cliff overlooking the river. I've always felt so much at home when I'm at the river. I love to spend long afternoons, wading and catching fish with a cane pole.

This is where the boat ramp comes out into the river. My stepdad, Revis, is judging the downhill trail to see if he can make it without tripping head over heels. There were a few spots of slick clay.

My son, Dusty, feeling through the river sand to find mussels. We didn't find any, so we just enjoyed ourselves and the view for a little while.

This is my foot, feeling through the sand, just off the edge of the water. Like I said, we didn't find any mussels. I don't really know when their season is, but apparently we weren't in time.

Look at that view down river. This is the historical Suwannee river in Hamilton County, Florida.I've lived near this river all my life in one place or another. I've fished, swam and walked the shores for miles on end. It never gets boring to me.

Not mussels, apparently, but we found a lot of snails. They were everywhere! Too bad we couldn't eat them.

Typical back woods fire pit in the ground. They have a few of these with the rustic little benches here and there for grilling up any fish caught or if not, a few hotdogs.
