White, White, White

Found some items while out thrifting this week. These items will be uploaded to my shop in a day or two. The first is a pair of white glass candleholders with a flower design. Very pretty.
Not sure if this is a potpourri pot or not, but those are little puppies on the handle of the lid and sides of the pot.

Found this pretty cream colored handmade vest. It has beautiful lace down the front. It even has the little elastic gathering in the back!

Fairy Mounds

We are in limbo between homes right now, so I thought I would show you some of our new surroundings where we will eventually have our home. These are pictures from the woods behind the property. Some people call these fairy mounds. They are little hills around the trees that are covered in green moss. I just think there pretty.

More Hoggtowne

Here are more pictures as promised from the Ren Fest, for short. There was elephant rides, as you can see in the background. The barrell ride in the foreground. No mechanical functions, only the long haired guy and his brute strength. He would push the barrel and grab the ropes and give it a twist. Here is a pirate. There were lots of these roaming around and even some female ones.

I absolutely love these dresses!
This is a real parrot on her shoulder!

Yes, that's a tankard, and yes that's beer.

My son is looking through a huge kaleidescope. This thing was great.

This lady is playing on an instrument. She let my son play on it also.

This is the whole king's court on the human chessboard.

Dusty found this metal chainmaille outfit. Now he wants one! We had a great time. We were there for a whole day and still didn't get to see everything.

Hoggtowne Rennaisance Faire

My son and I, along with a group of friends, attended the Hoggtowne Rennaisance Faire in Gainesville, Florida. This was our first time and we plan to go next year. Here are a few photos from that day and I'll post a few more tomorrow. If you've never been to one of these, you don't know what you're missing!

More Shelf Redos

I redid some more furniture pieces that were hanging around the house or in storage. This first one was in the house. Another prefab bookshelf. It still has a little life. The other two are very old pieces that were in my husband's family. They are over thirty something years old, that's all he knows. You will see the before and then the after. They ended up looking like weathered barn wood. I like it!

New Life for old lamp

I needed a place to display this beautifully shabby chic hat my sister gave me for Christmas. I took an old lamp that didn't work anymore, pulled out the cord, unscrewed the light bulb fixture in the top and spray painted it white. Now I have a hat stand.

Shabby Chic Bookshelf Redo

This is the beginning of my bookcase redo. This photo shows that it is a prefab bookshelf that was brown. Brown just isn't my color, so let's make this more my style.
This is the paint job. I had on hand a light gray paint and went over that with a light brush of white. It was very windy and I had to fight leaves and moss falling from the trees. But It dried quickly.

This is the end result of my redo. The trim was a christmas present from my sister and the lace from my mother. I just glued them on. I will use this in my room to put my shabby chic items and maybe show off some of my linens.
